Introduction
I ("Anwer Solangi", the developer) am committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Salah Compass mobile application (the "App"). Salah Compass shows prayer times, the direction of the Qibla and a collection of duas. It works entirely on your device. I do not collect, store or share any personal information, I run no servers that could receive it, and the App makes no network requests.
Information I Do NOT Collect
Salah Compass is designed to be a privacy-first application. I do NOT collect, store, or share:
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account details
- Your location, or any history of where you have been
- Your prayer times, alert settings or calculation preferences
- The duas you read, search for or save
- Advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics, crash reports or behavioral data
There is no account and no sign-up. Everything the App remembers is stored only in its private storage on your device.
Location
The App uses your phone's location to calculate prayer times and the direction of the Qibla. The calculation happens on your phone.
- Location is read only while you are using the App, never in the background
- Your most recent location is saved on your phone, so the App keeps working when no new fix is available
- It is never sent to me or to anyone else
- You can skip location access entirely: choose a city from the built-in list, or enter coordinates by hand
The name of your city is looked up in a list that ships inside the App. No address lookup or map service is contacted.
What Stays on Your Device
The App keeps the following in its private storage on your device, so it is set up the way you left it:
- Your last known location, or the city or coordinates you chose
- Your calculation method, Asr method, minute adjustments and Hijri day adjustment
- Your alert style, which prayers alert you, and the reminder time
- Your theme and Arabic text size
- Your favorite duas
None of it is uploaded, and there is no server that could receive it.
Notifications
If you turn on prayer alerts, the App asks for permission to show notifications. Alerts are scheduled on your phone by its operating system. No notification service, server or push provider is involved. Turning an alert off cancels it.
Compass Sensors
The Qibla compass reads your phone's motion and magnetic sensors while the Qibla screen is open. The readings are used immediately to turn the dial and are not stored.
Third-Party Services
Salah Compass uses no third-party services. It contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or sign-in software, and nothing in it contacts a server.
Device Backup
If Android's own backup is turned on for your device, Android may include the App's saved settings, favorites and last known location in your personal Google backup, so they can be restored when you reinstall or move to a new phone. That backup is handled by Google under your Google account settings. I never receive it and have no access to it.
Sharing a Dua
When you copy or share a dua, the App hands the text to your phone's clipboard or share sheet. Where it goes from there is up to you and the app you choose. I never see it.
Links That Leave the App
The Settings screen has links to this policy, the Terms of Service, my website, my email address, my Facebook page and my other apps on Google Play. The App itself still makes no network requests: tapping a link hands it to your browser, your email app or the Play Store, and what happens there is covered by that service's own privacy policy.
Permissions
Salah Compass asks you for two permissions, each only when you use the feature that needs it. The rest are declared without a prompt:
- Location — to calculate prayer times and the Qibla for where you are. Optional
- Notifications — to show prayer alerts, if you turn them on
- Alarms and reminders — so an alert can sound on the exact minute. Newer versions of Android ask you to allow this in system settings
- Run at startup, vibration and audio settings — to restore your alerts after a restart, to vibrate, and to play the adhan preview
- Internet access and network state — declared by the framework the App is built with. The App itself makes no network requests
- Launcher badge permissions — declared by the notification library the App uses. The App never sets a badge
The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, files or photo library, and it never asks for your location in the background.
Your Choices
You have complete control over your data:
- Use the App without location access, by choosing a city or entering coordinates
- Turn prayer alerts on or off at any time, for each prayer
- Withdraw the location or notification permission in your phone's settings whenever you like
- Uninstall the App to remove everything it stored
- Use the App fully offline, with no internet connection at all
Because nothing leaves your device, there is nothing held by me to delete.
Children's Privacy
Salah Compass is suitable for all ages. I collect no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I will post the new Privacy Policy on this page, update the "Last Updated" date, and note significant changes in the App's release notes.
